Black Cat Cage Fights sells out during inaugural MMA fighting event (4/22/24)Saturday night, April 20, a crowd of hundreds flocked to the Dyer County Fairgrounds for the inaugural Black Cat Cage Fights. A sold-out event, the roster featured 17 fights, with many fighters making their debut. Matches concluded with a 100% finish rate. The event was hosted by Dogwood BJJ owners John and Riss Perez.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to plant tree at Bruce in celebration of Arbor Day (4/22/24)The Xi Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will celebrate Arbor Day at Bruce Community Center, site of the historical Bruce School, 801 Vernon Street in Dyersburg, at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28. City Park and Recreation Master Gardener, Jerry Edmundson will plant a Sapling Oak tree donated by the sorority and install a bench donated by Center Director Victor McLin in honor of his mother, Willie Mae McLin, a Bruce High School Graduate.

DPD makes arrests following seizure of handgun, drugs (4/22/24)Two persons were arrested, narcotics and drug paraphernalia seized and a handgun was recovered during the service of a search warrant Friday morning, April 19. Members of the Dyersburg Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit executed the search warrant at 510 Roberts Ave. Street Crimes officers developed probable cause for the search warrant through personal observation and interactions at the house recently, according to a police report.
